Western Undergraduate Exchange Program
Are you looking to attend college in a different state?  The Western Undergraduate Exchange Program allows students to attend an out-of-state college but at lower costs.  For more information you can go to: www.wue.wiche.edu or google Western Undergraduate Exchange Program.
Simi Valley Unifed School District's College Fair
SVUSD are having a college fair on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Royal High School.  It is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Talk to college representatives about the colleges you are interested in. 
College Preview Days/Open House
Check out the dates posted for different colleges that will have a Open House in the General Information section of this web-page.
The Common Application
The Common Application is now available for over 400 colleges and universities.  If you are interested in applying to a college or university that uses the Common Application, you can go to: www.commonapp.org.  The website does have a list of the colleges/universities that accept the Common Application.  Be advised that there may be different deadlines for each campus, so be sure to check the college's website for their application deadline.
SENIORS & PARENTS - APPLY FOR FAFSA PIN#
All seniors and their parents need to apply for their FAFSA PIN Number before they can complete their FAFSA form on-line. FAFSA forms can be submitted starting Jan. 1, 2011.  The web-site is:  www.pin.ed.gov.
College Board SAT Scores Results
The CollegeBoard SAT Program is no longer mailing paper score reports to students who register online unless they request it.  Students who register by paper will still get paper reports mailed.  They have also added a feature online to allow easy printing of a full report from the Online Score Report.
Put your Best Face(book) Forward
Most colleges/universities and employers do not routinely check students' Facebook pages during the application review period but if they become aware of some specific concern, they reserve the right to do so.  It's always wise to stay on the safe side and THINK before you post!  It is also a way to let colleges and/or potential employees see the good things you do.  Post any community service and extra curricular activities as you do them. 
How to Become a Carpenter Apprentice
The Carpenter Apprentice Program is a 4 yr. apprenticeship where you will receive on the job training and related supplemental instruction.  Upon completion of the minimum requirements of the program the person is promoted to the classification of a Journeyman with a trade certificate.    If you are interested in this program then come to the CC Center for more information.
UC Financial Aid Estimators
The UC campuses have developed interactive, online financial aid estimators that allow high school students and their families to get an idea of the types and amounts of financial aid available to them, based on their own financial circumstances. Programs Available to Students & Parents
Moorpark High School has three programs for students and parents to help them research colleges, careers and financial aid.

The first program is called "Choices Planner" and students must come to the CC Center to create a portfolio and then they can work from home.  It will allow you to do College Searches, Majors, Financial Aid Searchs, Career Interest Test and much more.  It is located in the "Helpful Web Sites" section of this web-page.

The second program is called "Get in 2 College" and it is a College Admissions Handbook.  It has everything you need to know about getting into a college and there are also pdf files that you can download and print out.  It is located in the "General Information" section of this web-page.

The third program is called "Student Edge" and this program will help you find College Matches, Search for Scholarships, prepare for SAT, ACT, PSAT, SAT Subject Tests and AP Tests, and Explore Careers.  To register you can go to: www.mystudentedge.com and enter the access code of FKJGDDNZ.

Another program is called "March2Success".  This is a FREE online program to get a customize study program for your SAT/ACT, State Tests and the ASVAB.  To register you can go to: www.March2Success.com

Tutor List Available
Do you need help with your classwork?  The College Career Center has tutor lists available if needed.  We have a Teacher & Outside tutor list and we have a Student tutor list.  If you would like a copy please e-mail me at: www.nlamberson@mrpk.org and I would be happy to forward it to you.

SAT code for CSU Mentor is 3594
This is the code (3594) for ALL CSU Schools.  If you put this code down as one of your college choices then your SAT scores will go out to all California State Universities.  It will show up as CSU Mentor.
Cheapest textbooks available
SchoolSoup.com has developed a new search tool that will help students find the cheapest textbooks available -either new or used.  Go to: www.schoolsoup.com/bookstore and click on the bookstore tab.
Student Discounted Airfares
If you are looking to visit a college there is a web-site that can help.  You can go to: studentuniverse.com and get discounted airfares.  If you are interested in Southwest Airlines, you will have to go to Southwest's website to compare their prices.
Apprenticship and Training Program for Fire/Life Safety Technician or Protective Signal Installer
This is a state-approved apprentice training program which provides 3 years of on-the-job training and 600 hours of related Supplemental Instruction in a classroom setting. For more information you can go to: www.WBFAA.net.
Professional Forest Harvester Program
This program is a one year program including 9 months of classes on campus with labs in the forest, followed by an 8 week internship. It provides specialized training on the new equipment to meet the changing face of modern timber harvesting practices. For more information you can go to: www.vcc.edu or call 1-800-657-3608.
Apprentice Programs Available
Are you interested in becoming an apprentice in the following fields:  Carpenter, Cabinet and Store Fixture, Millwright, Pile Drive, Floor Worker, Drywall, Acoustical, or Insulator and Weatherstripping Installer.  We have new information in the CC Center for anyone interested in these fields.
