Harvey Mudd College 4th Annual Spring *FAST* Program For future mathematicians, scientists and engineers.
The FAST (Future Achievers in Science and Technology) program is for high achieving juniors from populations that are underrepresented in Math and Science to experience HMC. Participants will sit in on actural class, take a campus tour, complete a hands-on workshop, and interact with current students and professors. The program is FREE, including all meals. SENIORS: Universal Scholarship Application Workshop Wed., Feb. 15th from 2:45 p.m. in the Ed. Center
This workshop will inform you on how to complete the Universal Scholarship Application which has over 25 different local & club scholarship on one application. The workshop is for Seniors and should last less than 30 minutes.

Seniors & Sr. Parents Apply for your FAFSA PIN # All seniors and their parents should be applying for their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) PIN before Jan. 1, 2012! You can apply for one at www.pin.ed.gov. Your PIN allows you to electronically sign when you submit your FAFSA. If you are providing parent information, one parent must also sign your FAFSA. To sign electronically, your parent should also apply for a PIN.

It is the individual responsibility of each senior applying for state financial aid to complete a “2012-2013 Cal Grant GPA Verification Form,” submit it to the Registrar’s Office (in Counseling) for verification, return to pick it up, and mail it to the California Student Aid Commission prior to the March 2nd deadline. (MHS does NOT electronically transmit Cal Grant GPA’s.)
It is recommended, by both the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) and Moorpark High School, that students make a copy of the completed form to retain for their records, and that they obtain a Certificate of Mailing from the Post Office when mailing it to the CSAC, as confirmation of having met the March 2nd deadline.
The form for current MHS Seniors (as well as Instructions and an explanation of the CalGrant GPA Calculation) is available for download and printing on the right hand side of this website (look for the 2012-13 CalGrant GPA Form).
Forms may also be picked up from the College Career Center and the MHS Counseling Office.
Black College Expo On Jan. 28, 2012 there will be a Black College Expo in Los Angeles. You can get scholarships, financial aid resources, meet 1-on-1 with college recruiters and some applications fees waived, and possibly get accepted on the spot! UC Irvine Stay-Over Program UC Irvine offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to experience college life by "shadowing" a college student for a day (and night). Put your Best Face(book) Forward Most colleges/universities and employers do not routinely check students' Facebook pages during the application review period but if they become aware of some specific concern, they reserve the right to do so. It's always wise to stay on the safe side and THINK before you post! It is also a way to let colleges and/or potential employees see the good things you do. Post any community service and extra curricular activities as you do them.
How to Become a Carpenter Apprentice The Carpenter Apprentice Program is a 4 yr. apprenticeship where you will receive on the job training and related supplemental instruction. Upon completion of the minimum requirements of the program the person is promoted to the classification of a Journeyman with a trade certificate. If you are interested in this program then come to the CC Center for more information.
Programs Available to Students & Parents Moorpark High School has three programs for students and parents to help them research colleges, careers and financial aid.
The first program is called "Choices Planner" and students must come to the CC Center to create a portfolio and then they can work from home. It will allow you to do College Searches, Majors, Financial Aid Searchs, Career Interest Test and much more. It is located in the "Helpful Web Sites" section of this web-page.
The second program is called "Get in 2 College" and it is a College Admissions Handbook. It has everything you need to know about getting into a college and there are also pdf files that you can download and print out. It is located in the "General Information" section of this web-page.

Apprenticship and Training Program for Fire/Life Safety Technician or Protective Signal Installer This is a state-approved apprentice training program which provides 3 years of on-the-job training and 600 hours of related Supplemental Instruction in a classroom setting. Professional Forest Harvester Program This program is a one year program including 9 months of classes on campus with labs in the forest, followed by an 8 week internship.
