Financial Aid Assistance Week in the College & Career Center from 10/24-10/27!
Are you ready to file your FAFSA but still have questions or have run into issues? If so, be sure to stop by the College & Career Center between 2-4pm from October 24th-28th for Financial Aid Assistance Week. Moorpark College's Financial Aid Officers will be on-hand to answer your questions and assist you. For more information, please click HERE to see the flyer. Full Scholarships to Passion Spark Retreat
Segue’s new service in Passion Spark Retreats is generating much success for students in college and career prep! A generous donor has enabled Segue to offer the Passion Spark Retreat with full scholarships and there are just a few spaces now available.

Registration Deadline has been extended to October 26. The retreat is held at Cal Lutheran and begins on 11/5 and continues on 11/6, 11/12, and 11/19. When students know where they are going, they can actually earn their undergraduate degree in four years and save the costs of an additional year or two of tuition and living expenses.

Registration is quick and direct. Applicants go to and click on the “Register” link. Next click "Register Now,” fill in the form and, at the bottom of the page, choose “Scholarship” as the method of payment and enter “1” in the box.

Study Skills Workshop in November!
The College & Career Center is hosting a free Study Skills Workshop on 11/2, 11/9 and 11/16. Tracy Tennenhouse, Co-Director of Moorpark College's Writing Center, will be leading this informative workshop. Topics addressed will include: Developing Growth Mindset/Time Management Skills, Academic Reading Skills and Test Prep or Note taking/Writing. Students can sign up in the College & Career Center and must do so by 10/28. Seats are limited so sign up soon!

Raise.Me - A way to earn $ for college starting in 9th grade!
Raise.Me allows high school students to earn scholarships from colleges for their achievements in and out of the classroom. Starting in 9th grade, students can be eligible to start earning scholarships for their achievements like good grades, perfect attendance, leadership roles, participation in sports & clubs, community service, tests scores and more. Tutor List Available & Free Tutoring from Moorpark City Library
Do you need help with your classwork? The College & Career Center is putting together the paid tutor list for the 2016/17 school year. If you would like a copy, please e-mail me at and I would be happy to forward it to you. Thank you. The Moorpark City Library offers FREE tutoring Mondays & Thursdays from 4-6pm.
SAT code for CSU Mentor is 3594
This is the code (3594) for ALL CSU Schools. If you put this code down as one of your college choices then your SAT scores will go out to all California State Universities. It will show up as CSU Mentor.
Common Black College Application
You can submit the CBCA and apply to numerous colleges at the same time and it is only $35.00 to apply to 1 or all 37 colleges on the list. You can receive scholarship offers from several different colleges. For more information you can go to:

Southwest Oregon Community College
Southwestern Community College does not charge out of state tuition. They also offer free tuition to those high school students graduating with a 3.75 or higher GPA. This campus has on-campus housing and has over 50 different areas of study from pre-engineering and pre-med to manufacturing technology and nursing.
